Don’t Mock God

Galatians 6:7

Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for what ever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

I know that we use this verse most of the time to demonstrate how that we are to sow specific seed, if we want to reap a specific harvest. This is true, if you need love, sow love. If you need friends, be a friend. If you need money, sow money etc, etc.

This is not the only way that we mock God. The Bible is clear in teaching us how we are to live as believers, how we are to relate to God. I believe that we also mock God when we in our daily affairs, live inconsiderate and inconsistent lives.

Let me give you some examples. I am supposing that you are a true born again believer. By that I mean that you have really received Jesus as your personal Savior. Now since that is true, then there is a lifestyle and a way of living that is expected from you. A nature that is consistent with the nature of Jesus. When you don’t live that way, you are in effect mocking God. Be careful in this area, not to make the mistake of mocking God by the way that you live.

Another example that I see is in the area of our fellowshipping with God. Some that I have known, almost never pray, they attend church sporadically, they will not honor God with the first fruits of their labors in tithes and offerings. In general, these people go about their day to day lives living for themselves and their own pleasures, never even giving God a second thought or a moment’s attention. There is no praying and no seeking the presence of God in their lives until trouble comes. Now these run to the preacher and ask for special prayer. They get out their Bibles and start to read, hunting a scripture that they can claim. Do you not see how this is mocking God?

Be careful how you live, for the Bible says that God will not be mocked. Live daily in His presence and commit to him fully.

MY WORD CONFESSION: God will not be mocked, and I will not mock God by living an inconsistent and prayerless life.
