A Special People

1 Peter 2:9

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

We are truly called to be a special people. In fact, the Bible states it as we are a peculiar people. Now by that, it doesn’t mean, as some Christians seem to think, that we are to be misfits, holier than thou, who are no earthly good because they are so heavenly minded. I tell you, that you cannot be heavenly minded without being earthly good. We are to be peculiar in the fact that we are His people, His chosen ones and that makes us special.

We are also called a royal priesthood. Royalty has to do with kings and queens and ruling, while priesthood has to do with intervening on behalf of the people. Just think about that for a minute. You have royal authority in this world. You can speak and live in the authority of God. On the other hand, you can intervene for your family, friends, coworkers, and even for your nation in prayer. You have authority in prayer with God. The Bible tells us that we have authority on earth to bind and to loose. What a great privilege and responsibility.

The reason for all of this is that we can show the world by our lives and our love, that we are the children of God. We are to be a beacon that is shining out into the darkness and deprivation that is in this world. In this way, we show forth praise to our Almighty God.

We are a called out people, called out of darkness into His marvelous light. Now that is a real special blessing. He has delivered us out of the kingdom of darkness. No longer are we under the tyrannical power of the enemy of God, the devil. We have been translated into the kingdom of His glorious light and made to be partakers of His divine nature, no longer to be a slave of the fallen nature of man. PTL

MY WORD CONFESSION: I am a chosen person to show forth the praises of my God in a sin-sick world.
