John 1:40-42
…Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother first found his own brother, Simon and said unto him, We have found the Messiah, and he brought him to Jesus.
There is a chorus that we used to sing in our youth meetings that said, “It only takes a spark to get a fire going and soon all those around can warm up to it’s glowing, that’s how it is with God’s love, once you’ve experienced it, you spread his love to everyone, you want to pass it on.”
You know, when you find something worth sharing, something very valuable and helpful, you want to share it with those who are close to you. Your family and friends are the ones you most want to know about this very important find that you have made.
So it was with Andrew, He had found the very highly prized Messiah that Israel had been waiting on for centuries. He couldn’t wait to go tell his brother, Simon. Can’t you imagine the excitement and enthusiasm with which he burst into whatever Simon was doing with this exclamation? “Simon! Simon! Come quickly I have found Him, I have found the Messiah!”
On the other hand think about Simon and his excitement as he entreated Andrew to tell him where He was. He could hardly contain his joy and zeal as he rushed with Andrew back to where Jesus was.
You know that is how it is supposed to be. One person finding Jesus and then sharing Him with others in his family and circle of friends. In just this way, the good news will spread like a wildfire to all who need to hear it. It only takes a spark. You be the spark that ignites the fire of salvation to your family and friends. Pass it on.
