My Sufficiency

2 Corinthians 3:5

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God

Sometimes we as Christians come up against something that we think is not possible to overcome. It may be a sickness, a death, loss of a friend or job. There are too many things to mention here, and the things themselves are not the issue. The issue here is, can we overcome? Can we come out victorious? We read in the Bible and the Bible speaks many times of the blessings for those who overcome. It says that we will overcome in all situations and circumstances. Yet sometimes in our daily lives, getting it all to pan out right seems very hard to do. I suppose that you too have noticed that.

When we look around and see others who are making it fine, we say that we could make it too if we could trade our problems for theirs. Have you noticed that other people’s problems don’t seem as big as yours do? Well, it always seems that way doesn’t it? I assure you that many times what seems to be a mountain to you is a mole hill to someone else and vice versa.

The question is not how many mountains are in your life or how big they are. The deciding question is who is handling your mountain real estate. The Christian life is far too hard and there are too many issues for a person to handle. That is why Paul says in this verse that, one, yes I am sufficient, and two that my sufficiency is of God.

You see, in ourselves we are not sufficient, but God has blessed us with all sufficiency through His Son, Jesus Christ and Paul says to us that our sufficiency is of God. Today acknowledge and claim this truth as your own.

MY WORD CONFESSION: My sufficiency is not of myself, but I am sufficient unto all things through God.
