Keep On Growing

Philippians 3:12

I don’t mean to say that I am perfect. I haven’t learned all I should even yet, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be. (Living Bible)

In this lifetime, we have a standard set before us. The mark that we are all to strive to attain was set by Jesus and is perfection. Now I know that you must be thinking that this is an impossible task so why bother even trying. Well, in the natural and in your own strength, you would be right. It is too high for the attaining. But, you must remember that God is perfect and cannot accept anything less than perfection. This is where the miracle of the rebirth comes in. According to the Bible, when one becomes a Christian and Jesus forgives us of our sins, we are “born again.” This time, our Father is God and our nature is perfect not sinful. That is how we can be declared righteous and holy. That is the only way that we can be worthy of heaven.

Now that our spiritual side is taken care of, we must turn our attention to our natural side. This is the area that Paul is referring to in today’s passage. He says that he has not yet attained perfection in his day to day life, but that he is still striving and desiring to become more and more Christ like each and every day. You see, all of us Christians are in the same boat when it comes to this area of life. We all start as babes in Christ and then are to proceed on to maturity. This means that each year, each month, each week and even each day we should be becoming more like Jesus. That is God’s goal for us and His purpose in us. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to work in you all that he wants to, so that He can work out of you, all that God wants to, in order that you will be more like Jesus today than you were yesterday. Keep on growing into the fullness of Christ daily.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have not yet attained, but am daily pursuing and growing into the fullness of Christ in my life.
