The Peril Of Unbelief

Hebrews 3:19

So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

There is an old saying that says, “There is a time and a place for everything.” I have been told that many time is my life. That is a pretty true statement too. There are certain things that are very time critical in this life and we need to take them while we can. In all of our lives, we look back and see where opportunity was knocking on our door and we failed to answer it. Later, as we look back we wished that we had done so while we had the chance. This is the situation that this verse is addressing in the history of Israel.

As you recall from studies of the Old Testament, God brought His people out of Egypt and to the land that He had saved for them. When they sent in the scouts and they came back with their reports of the giants in the land, they voted not to go in, even though God had said that He would give it to them if they would go in and take it.They had a word from God, they had a miraculous journey to encourage them and yet they would not believe God and enter. Therefore, God said that they would be prohibited from entering until the generation that rejected died out. If you have read the rest of the story, you would know that now they decided that they would go on in. It was too late, God said that He would not be with them now to give the land.

You see, timing and obedience is all important. When they could go in, they wouldn’t and when they would go in, they couldn’t. It is so important to move when God says to move. Obedience must be instantaneous if we are to inherit all the blessings that God has for us. Don’t let unbelief cause you to be delayed or to miss altogether God’s best for you. Enter in to it as soon as you get the opportunity.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I will not allow unbelief to keep me entering into the blessed promises that God has given to me.
