Something Of Value

Acts 3: 6

Then Peter said, ”Silver and gold have I none, but, such as I have, give I thee. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

There are times when people ask for things that are not really the best for them or will not really satisfy them. I have found that often we do not really know what it is that we need. This was the case with the lame man of whom this text is speaking. He thought that he needed some money to buy food with, but Peter and John realized that he had a much bigger and more urgent need. His real need was to be healed, so that is why they told him to walk instead of giving him money. They knew that money was only good for a day or two, but that being healed was good for a lifetime. You know that if he had been given the option of being healed or getting money, he would have chosen to be healed. By the way, you notice that he didn’t jump up and complain about the two tightwads who wouldn’t even give him a little bit of money. He went jumping and leaping and praising God. He had received something of real value.

In our day to day lives, we have opportunities also to impart to people. We can give to them things that will temporarily help them, or we can give to them things that will eternally benefit them. You may not have a lot of extra money, time or talent, but you do have the ability to share the gospel, or good news, of Jesus. There are people all around us who are hurting and defeated. People who are lonely. People who are lost and on their way to eternal destruction. It is our responsibility and privilege to impart to them something of value. Something that will make their lives full here on earth and blessed for eternity. Jesus is the answer today for all mankind, just as He was the answer for the crippled man then. Make it a point to live your live in such a way as to give something of value to all that you come into contact with. Make your life count by investing in the lives of others.

MY WORD CONFESSION: Today, by the power of God in my life, I will deposit something of value into the lives of others.
