1 Corinthians 4:2
It is required of a steward that a man be found faithful.
I would like for you to think for a minute about what a boundary is. In simple terms, a boundary is a line of demarcation, it sets a limit. There are times when boundaries are marked by fences which are used to keep some things in and some things out. The owner of the property has the legal right to determine what can come in and what has to stay out. He is responsible for what happens on that piece of property.
What is true of physical properties is also true of our lives. Just as we are responsible for what happens on our physical property, we are also responsible for what goes on in our soul and spirit. God wants us to be as painstaking in taking care of our soul and spirit “property” as we are in taking care of our physical property, controlling what we let in and what we keep out.
What are some of the issues that we must address in this area of our lives? One thing that the Bible tells us is that we are to guard our minds and our affections, our hearts. For, where the heart goes, that is where our treasure is. We are to keep out hurtful emotions and people as well as destructive deeds.
We are to take out the trash daily by confessing and repenting of sin. In so doing, we keep a clean property that is available for occupancy and use by the Holy Spirit. Then we are to open the gates wide and invite the Spirit to come in and have His way.
We need to increase the value and worth of the property. One way we can do that is by making good investments, as the man with five talents did. Another way is to tend the garden of our attitudes and behaviors so that we can have a fruitful harvest.
God has given you stewardship over your life, you are His property. Will you be a faithful steward over your life today?
