Renewing Yourself By Renewing Your Mind

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind….

We all know what it means to be renewed. We live in a world where a person can go in to a doctor and come out looking totally different and 25 years younger. This helps to renew the outside of the person and can even have a temporary uplifting effect on the inside too, but soon the old thought patterns and mindset will take over. Although the outside will look new, inside there is the same old person.

A person does not really get renewed by changing the way they look. The way to renew a person is to change the way they think, and that is done by meditating on the Word and taking your thoughts captive. This will set you on the course that is required for changing the way you think. Once you have exchanged the way you think for the way that God thinks, you can begin the incredible journey into God's will and purpose for your life.

God wants His people to stay in balance. He wants to bless you and be good to you. He wants to use you as a vessel through which His Holy Spirit can work. But in order to do that, you must allow Him to teach you to think the way that He thinks.

Only God can change you, you cannot do it. But you can cooperate with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to do the work. Step one to any freedom, however, is to face the truth the Lord is trying to show you. When your thoughts are always focused on what is wrong or what is bad about you, you are probably being deceived about yourself.

Allow God to deal with you. Do your part, meditate on His Word, but do not try to do His part. The load is too heavy to bear alone. If you're not careful, you will break under the weight of it. So don't worry, Trust and rely upon Him, let Him do His work in you and before long, you will start noticing a new and better you, a renewed you.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I am being renewed by the Word of God, it is changing the way I think, and therefore, the way that I am.
