Feeling Or Faithing

Romans 1:17

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

A life controlled by feelings is no fun. Feelings are emotions that can change from day to day, hour to hour, and moment to moment. A person cannot depend on them because they are so fickle.

We are all creatures affected by our soul, that is our mind, will and emotions. Although our soul plays a big part in our make up, it is not supposed to be the determining factor in our lives, we are not to be ruled over by our soulish realm. The Bible says that we are to be guided by the Spirit of Truth, not by the soul of man.

Although we cannot stop the enemy from placing negative thoughts in our mind, we don’t have to dwell on those thoughts. We can use our will and choose to resist and refuse them. In the same manner, we cannot keep the devil from playing on our emotions, but we can refuse to give in to them. As followers of Christ, we must learn to live by faith, wisdom and truth, not by feelings and emotions.

We all, at one time or another, have to battle feelings, but we can't allow feelings to dictate us and spoil our lives. God wants to help you to develop emotional maturity so that you will not be a slave to your feelings. We need to ask ourselves on a regular basis, “Am I serving the God of the Bible or the god of my feelings?” It is so easy to fall into the trap of believing what we feel more than what God says in His Word.

If we want to be mature, disciplined, Spirit-controlled people, we must be determined to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Yes, we are emotional creatures, and emotions are not bad, God gave them to us. The fact is that He never intended that we be ruled by them. We are to use our emotions but be ruled by His Truth. It takes a constant act of the will to choose to do things God’s way and not our way.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have been redeemed by faith and I do not live by my feelings but by my faith
