You Hold The Title

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I have heard people say that they own the car that they drive or the house that they live in. The truth is that when you dig a little deeper you find out that really the finance company or the bank really owns it. It may be true that the person is paying for the item, but they do not hold the title to it. In reality, the one who holds the title is the actual owner. If you don’t believe this is true, just let that person stop making the payments for a while and see what happens. It won’t be long until the one who holds the title will be coming after it.

The word substance in this verse today literally means title deed. Now it reads a little bit differently doesn’t it? Faith is the title deed to what you are believing for. When you reach out in faith, when you put your faith in action, you are literally laying claim to the title of what you are hoping for. You may not see it at the time, because it is yet unseen, but the truth is that the faith or title deed will cause the invisible to become visible.

Let’s see how this works out in the spiritual realm. The Bible tells us in the following verses of today’s text that the world was framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. This means that God did not take a physical bundle of building materials and build the world. He went into the spiritual realm and by His faith, He spoke all that is into existence. Remember in Genesis that it is recorded over and over that “God said.” Each time God spoke what He wanted, and it came into being. Faith was His substance or title deed to the things that he wanted to be.

The Bible says that you will have what you say that you have. Speak in faith and you will get the title deed to what you hope for.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I speak the word in faith, believing and I have that which I say I have. Faith is my title deed.
