Psalms 34:1
I will bless the lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
There is something great that happens when we praise the Lord. It is really hard to be down and discouraged when we are praising Him. You know praise gets our thoughts off of us and our situations and puts them on God.
When I consider myself, I think of only what I can do. I am limiting myself to my own ability and to my own resources. But, when I praise God, my focus changes to Him and His power and abilities, which are abundantly more than mine.
One of the great things about this is that even if I could always figure out what to do, I could not do it. There are just too many things going on and my power is so limited. In giving my praise to God, I am tapping into the power and ability that created the whole universe. I am releasing the one who can do exceedingly and abundantly more than I can ask or even think.
Not only that, but since God knows all things, He knows the best way to handle all my life, my blessings and my problems. Just think for a moment about this. God knows the end of our lives from the beginning. He knows what He wants for us tomorrow and how to get us to that place to get what He wants for us. He knows what the next year and the next decade holds for us and is at work today preparing us for those things that are to come.
I am so thankful that my God is so much more than I will ever need. I will never exhaust His resources. He will defend me in the face of my enemies and cause me to triumph in all things.
That is why we can say along with David, I will bless the Lord at all times, and His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
