Lessons Learned

Deuteronomy 34:10

And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.

This is an amazing thing to say about a man. Some would say that Moses was an extraordinary man of God. I believe a better way of putting it would be to say that Moses was a man of an extraordinary God. You see the emphasis always has to be on God. He is the one who makes the difference between mediocrity and superiority in a person’s life. Yes, Moses was a man mighty in God, and a man who knew God face to face.

This was not always true of Moses though. He started out in life with the hand of God on him in a special way. He was under a death penalty, but God spared and provided for him. As Moses grew, just like any other person, he had to learn how to grow in the things of God.

Moses’ life can be divided into 3 distinct and even parts of 40 years each. First, he spent 40 years in Pharaoh's house. There he received the best of everything that the world had to offer. He was the best of the best. He learned there to be something. Yet, he did not learn there how to be a man of God.

The second phase of his life was 40 years of working for his father in law tending sheep. Think of it, he went from royalty in Egypt to taking care of sheep, and at that, not even his own sheep. This was a very humbling time in his life. He was exiled from Egypt and now he was learning the lesson of how to be nothing.

The next 40 year phase began when he went to the mount to see the burning bush. There he met God and learned how to trust Him and walk in His ways. Now he had learned to be everything.

We too must pass through these same phases if we are to be mighty in God, which phase are you in?

MY WORD CONFESSION: I know that in my self there is no good thing, but in Christ I can do all things.
