About Seeing Beyond The Surface Of Life...

We all think that we see what is going on. We think we know what is happening. However, the truth is that we only see the surface of things. We see the surface of the people we think we know so well. We only see the surface of the material things of life. We see the brick, mortar, and stone of a building. We see and hear what the T.V. says in the news about Afghanistan and Israel. We only see what they want us to see.
I believe it will be more important than ever before to be discerning as we continue in the days ahead. What lies beneath the surface of life is a realm of power that we will need to depend on like never before. Beneath the surface is THE power...the power of God. This power is the very glue and cohesive force that keeps and holds the earth in place. It is the power of God that creates the gravity of the moon that causes the tides of the ocean to turn. The power that holds the substance of the moon in place is the power of God. It is this same power, the power of God, that can direct your life.
What we often see is a false exterior. We see the clothes that people wear and the outer appearance they create. I have taught our youth group for years that it's not clothes that make a person, it's not who they are, or how much popularity they have. It is what is on the inside that God sees. He is more interested in a person's heart. It is His power that can change, direct, instruct, mold and purify. The power of our Lord can penetrate the hard exterior of an individual to soften, bring kindness, gentleness, and love to transform from the inside out to make lasting changes in an individual that will bless them and all they contact.
If we are willing, He will work. He will show us His spirit, His love, and His mercy in every part of our lives. We need to be more aware of His presence and power than ever before. His power will penetrate the very surface and outer appearance to make lasting changes in one's life.
