United We Stand

1 Peter 3:8

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, show pity, be courteous.

There is a great patriotic move across America today. The citizens of the United States have united against the common enemy, terrorism. I have been truly blessed by the unity and oneness that I have seen; I am a patriot and Christian. As a Christian, it is my God given duty to love my country and to pray for its leaders. I do not take the liberty that we all have for granted. I understand that a great price has been paid and is still being paid for the freedoms that we so often take for granted. It is a fact that where there is unity there is a better chance for victory when an enemy comes to assault a group of people

Just as is the case of our nation, so it is for the church. The church is a mystical and mighty organization. It possesses the power to change the world and to bring the Bible message to all men. This mighty and awesome army of believers is both universal and local. It is a single unit that is attached to the whole. By this I mean that thousands of local units unite in the Spirit to form the whole church. This church is not denominational nor is it nondenominational, it has as its head, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Ruler and Supreme Commander of this great body of believers. This great body, the church, is by Him and for Him and without Him is no more than a social club.

But, the church too, must recognize that it is under violent assault by a terrorist organization. Satan and his evil spirits are arrayed in order against the body of Christ. They have one goal in mind, and that is to destroy its witness and power through divisions and inner wars.

We must recognize this ploy and unite on the common ground of the Word of God. Just as the people of the United States had to lay aside political and personal preferences to defeat its enemy, so too the body of Christ must lay aside these things and unite as one body, as one voice. United We Stand to defeat this enemy of God’s church.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I am united with the body of Christ to defeat the devil, and we will win, because United We Stand.
