Into The Deep

Luke 5:4

Now when He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a draught.”

God wants all of us to experience the deeper things of this life along with abundance of blessings. We are too quick to accept the bare minimums of just getting by. We tend to live on the surface, in the shallows of life and not down deep into the real issues and depths of life, where the blessings are.

Jesus told Simon to do two things. He said for him to launch out into the deep and for him to let down his nets for a draught of fish. We don’t us that word and may not be familiar with it. It means literally for a haul of fish. The fishermen had finished fishing for the night and were now washing and caring for their nets. It was day time and the best fishing was at night, nevertheless they obeyed Jesus and as a result they caught more fish than their nets could handle.

Wouldn’t you like to have a big haul of God’s blessings in your life? If the answer is yes, and I am sure that it is, then you are going to have to leave the shallows and launch out into the deep yourself. You are going to have to, by faith, let down your nets and expect God to fill them up with the biggest haul of blessings that you can imagine.

In the shallows of your reason and rationale, you cannot understand nor comprehend how God is going to do this. You have to leave this shallow living and get into the deeper life, giving place to the desires that are deep in your spirit. You know what I am talking about, those desires that you may never have told anyone about, but that are alive deep in your inner being, things that you have felt that God wanted for you, blessings that you have only been able to dream about, but somehow you felt that you were supposed to have them.

Faith is deposited down in your spirit and that faith will bring about the will and purpose of God in your life if you will let down the nets and expect God to fill you with an abundant haul of blessings.

MY WORD CONFESSION: By faith, I let down my net of expectations into the depths of God’s love for a haul of the blessings of deeper life.
