Habakkuk 2:2
Write the vision, make it plain upon tablets that he may run that reads it.
Do you have a vision and a goal for your life? I hope that you do. If you don’t, you should spend some time praying and asking God to give you the commission for your life. You see, He wants you to have a purpose and a sense of destiny, He wants you to know why you are here and what you are to be doing in this lifetime. We all have a divine purpose and reason for living, we are not just here to breathe air and occupy space.
It is always a good idea, once received, to put your goals and visions for your life down on paper, at least some of them. That way you can use them as a guide, as a marker to pace your progress and as a beacon to check to see if you are still on course. It will not only act as a check and balance for your life, but will also give you motivation to keep on going toward that mark or accomplishment.
This verse teaches that the one who keeps his goal before him, by reading it regularly, can run. In other words his life can be fast and productive. Too often, we, without goals and vision, seem to just stumble along not really going anywhere and not really knowing what to do next. You know, if you don’t know where you are going, it is hard to tell when you get there.
Another word of encouragement to those who already have a vision for their life from God. Look at the next verse. It says that the vision is for an appointed time and it will come to pass. Sometimes in the midst of day to day life it is easy to lose sight of the vision and confidence in the fact that it will happen. Don’t stop now, you have come too far. The scripture says that though it tarry, don’t give up on it, keep on going, for it will come to pass.
