Blessed To Be A Blessing

Genesis 12:2

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing.

What a great promise God gave to Abram (Abraham). He said that He would make a great nation out of him and his seed and that he would bless him and give him a great name. Then he said something just as important, he said that He would make him a blessing.

You know it is wonderful to be blessed. It is great to have all your needs met, to be healthy and to be doing more than just getting by. One of the biggest blessings of this type of life is that you can also be a blessing. Didn’t you know that God is in the blessing business? Ever since He made mankind He has been blessing him. Just look at that beautiful garden of Eden. All that a person could want or need was right there waiting for him to enjoy. Too bad that man messed it up. Look at the promised land. A land flowing with milk and honey, fruit so great that it took two men to carry a bunch of grapes. God has always wanted to and has blessed His people as much as they would let Him.

You see, God wants the world to know Him. He wants His blessings flowing through His children. He wants to bless you. Yes, He wants to bless you so you can be a blessing.

Today, decide that you are going to be used to be a blessing to someone and ask God to lead that special someone for whom you are to be a blessing into your path. Then, let the Holy Spirit in you reach out and bless that one. It may be with a kind word, a kind deed or just a smile, be sensitive to His leading and let His blessings flow.
