3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in good health, even as thy soul prospereth.
We are living in a day when people are very mindful of health and exercise. Millions of dollars are spent on advertising that promises perfect "abs" and tighter "you know whats." You can go to any high school track and find moms, dads, grand parents, executives and plant workers all out there trying to improve their looks and health. Running, jogging or walking, the goal is the same, trying to become healthier so that they can live longer and have a better quality of life.
There is certainly nothing wrong with physical exercise, I practice it myself. We should do things that are beneficial to us. The one problem that I see is that we spend all this time and money on the physical and yet neglect other areas. We are physically fit but are emotional and spiritual wrecks. The Bible says," What profit is there if a man gain the whole world and yet lose his soul?"
It is very beneficial to think about God's Word. The more time one spends meditating on the Word, the more he will reap from it. Be careful what you are hearing. You'll get from the Word what you put into it! Many people are so busy taking care of the physical that they don't spend much time delving into God's Word very deeply. As a result, they become confused about why nothing in their lives seems to change. Hearing someone preach and teach the Word, listening to sermon tapes, or reading the Bible occasionally is all right, but it isn't enough if you truly want to become an overcoming Christian.
The Bible says in Proverbs 4:20 that we are to attend to God's words and to incline our ear unto His sayings. This means that we are to give attention to, consent to and submit to what God's Word tell us. In other words, we are to take care of the whole person, body, soul and spirit. This is total prosperity and it is God's will for you to have it.
