Psalm 18:35
Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation; and thy right hand sustains me; thy gentleness hath made me great.
There are circumstances in our lives that bring us intense suffering, pain and anguish. However, if we remain determined to win out over these circumstances, we can do so. The key is to continue in faith and to be thankful for all that God has done for us. How can this be? How can those who live in circumstances that are sometimes terrible continue to give thanks?
We can all give thanks for the gift of life itself. No matter how difficult our present life might be, we can give thanks for the opportunity to live, breathe, and work for Christ in serving others. For the greater our trials, the greater the opportunity we have to achieve His victory. When we cannot see past the devastation of the present moment, we can rest in Christ's assurance that all things will work out if we fit our life into His plans. Like Romans 8:28 says, "All things work together for good to those that love God". Also, we know that what the devil means for harm, God will turn around and make it work for good in our lives. (Genesis 50:20)
If we think we have no power, we believe a lie. For we have power over every circumstance and we can overcome. We can actually use struggles and trials to help us grow closer to Christ. They can even cause us to go to a deeper level if we will allow Him to work in us. He will supply us with what we need to cope with any adversity we face.
When it seems all options are gone and there is no hope, we must recall that God is supernatural, and with God, all options are open to us. God gives us special grace to help us to see past present obstacles. There is for us, regardless of the present moment's hardship, a next moment full of His joy, peace, and encouragement. Remember when going through hard times that Jesus has been there too, He knows the pain that we feel. Trust in God and His right hand will sustain you.
