Thinking Faith Thoughts

Romans 10:17

So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

The mind, will and emotions make up the soul of a person. The soul is the gate to the heart; knowledge in the soul comes before faith in the heart does. As a person fills his mind with the knowledge of God's Word, the Holy Spirit will write the Word upon the heart. When God's Word is engraved upon the heart, it creates faith in that Word. Your ability to have faith in God's Word is in direct proportion to the know-ledge that you have of God's Word.

This is why a person must be careful what he puts into his mind. This principle is true regardless of the source of the word that goes into the mind. If a person puts a false word into their mind, it will then get engraved upon their heart they will have faith in that untruth. This is why the Bible says that we are to guard our minds.

What we believe is a result of our thinking. If we think wrong, we will believe wrong. If our believing is wrong, then our confession will be wrong. In other words what we say will be wrong. It all hinges on our thinking. Think thoughts according to God's Word; this is the correct foundation for your faith in God. If your thinking is based upon the world's way of doing things, you have the wrong foundation for faith in God. At some point the pressures of life will cause your incorrect foundation of "worldly thinking" to crumble, and your faith will not be strong enough to withstand the adversities of life and the attacks of the enemy.

I am not referring to "mental assent." Just thinking the right thoughts in your mind is not enough, nor is it an end in itself. Some people think that knowledge is all they need, but if that were so, knowledge would be their savior. The reason we must have knowledge from God's Word is because it will enable us to believe the Word with our hearts. Knowing the thoughts of God helps us to believe right.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have faith in God's word and believe in my heart, therefore, I His word produces life in me.
