Be Bold

Philippians 2:9

Wherefore, God hath highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name,

I have read the whole book, I know the outcome. We win! This is so reassuring in the uncertain times that we live in. Knowing the whole story and knowing that the outcome is already settled affords us great boldness in our daily living. We are on the winning team, we should be celebrating our victory now. There is no debate of the issue nor will there be a review of the play, it stands as God has called it. There is absolutely no possibility of a change in the outcome, it is settled forever. Jesus is Lord and His name is above all names. The verse for today goes on to say that at the name of Jesus, every knee in heaven, on the earth and even under the earth has to bow.

Now I want you to see what that means to you as a believer. If you will read Luke 9, you will see that Jesus called his disciples together and gave them His power and authority over all demons and to heal diseases before He sent them out to preach. What a wonderful and powerful insight we get from this. One of the first rules of Bible study is to study the whole Bible and put it all together as one book. If you do this, you find that the last thing that Jesus told those disciples after His resurrection and during His ascension was that they were to go out and to make other disciples and to teach these new disciples to do all that He had taught them to do.

He was giving His approval on the passing on of His authority and power to each new generation of believers. This authority and power has passed on from generation to generation all the way down to you and me. All believers today have the same right to use the name of Jesus and the authority behind that name to exercise victory over the devil and sickness. Be bold, don’t back down, proclaim the kingdom of God and demand that the devil depart from you and leave you alone. It’s your covenant privilege. Take advantage of this great weapon now and defeat the powers of darkness in Jesus’ name and for His glory.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have boldness and confidence as a believer, I have authority in Jesus’ name to defeat every enemy.
