Pleasing God

1 Thessalonians 2:4

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God . . .

It is almost unbelievable for most people to think that a man or a woman can actually please God. The Bible teaches that we not only can please God, but that we can also bless Him and bring glory to Him as we live for Him on this earth.

It is important to remember that all of us are created for a purpose and all have a divine plan for our lives. It is in finding and fulfilling God’s perfect will for our lives that we are able to please Him, bless Him and bring glory to Him. The problem is that many never seem to find what God’s will for their lives is. Even if God’s will is known, many will never accomplish it because they haven’t taken the time to build the necessary relationship with God that it takes to be able to do the will of God on a consistent basis.

Let me clarify what I am talking about. Before you try to find out and do what God has planned for you, you must know more about God and who He is. You must be better acquainted with Him. The only way that you get acquainted with someone is to spend time with them. It is imperative if you are going to really live for the Lord and to please Him, that you spend time with Him, getting to know Him.

Getting to know God is the key to being obedient to Him and being obedient to Him is the only way to please Him. Let me show you why this is true. It is only as we get to really know God that we will be able to trust Him completely. Only as we trust God completely will we be able to submit ourselves in faith to Him.

So, here is how it is, you cannot please God if you don’t obey Him and you won’t obey Him if you don’t trust Him. You will not trust Him if you do not spend time getting to know Him.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I spend time with God and know Him well enough to trust Him and accomplish His will and calling.
