Enjoy Your Journey

John 15:11

These things have I spoken unto you that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

I remember back in our lives to a time when things were really up in the air. There were many changes going on in our lives and ministry. We were not sure about certain aspects of our calling and direction was not clear. The things that we had always believed and preached were being challenged by the situations and circumstances of life. The devil was having a good time telling us that this victorious life stuff was all a bunch of lies and that we had missed God in our lives and calling. You know what I mean, you have probably had the same type of things happen in your life too.

It was during this time, that the Lord showed Mechele and me a great truth, something that we have learned and referred back to many times since. He gave us the joy principle. In His words to us, He said that life was like a journey and that we were supposed to be enjoying that journey. In other words, He said that we were supposed to enjoy life to it’s fullest.

We received that word and believed it, but, things didn’t change. We were still not experiencing joy in our journey. Finally one day I said to Mechele, “Do you know what I am preaching on this Sunday?” She said, “No, what?” I told her that I was going to preach on Enjoying Your Journey. It almost choked me to say that, and I thought that she was going to laugh at me. We discussed the particulars of preaching something that we weren’t feeling and that wasn’t being manifested in our own lives and decided that the Bible taught it, therefore it was truth whether we were living in it our not. We decided to go on with it. We learned an important lesson. We discovered that teaching the truth even when you are not experiencing it will cause that truth to begin to manifest in you life. Almost immediately, we began to sense those burdens lifting and the joy of life starting to flow back into our lives. We started to really enjoy our journey. Are you enjoying yours?

MY WORD CONFESSION: The joy of the Lord is my strength and that joy remains in me so that my joy might be full.
