Dare To Cross The Line

Exodus 32:26

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, “Who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come unto me.”

There is a thing that kids sometimes do when they are establishing their territory or when they are in an argument with one another. I am sure that you can remember back to those days yourself. One will draw a line in the sand, either with his foot or a stick and then dare the other one to cross the line.

Everyone waits with anticipation to see what is going to happen. Will the line be crossed, will the challenge be answered?

This little game reveals a part of the basic nature of the human race. It is our nature to do what we are told not to do, to accept the challenge and to cross the lines or boundaries. In some cases, this is not a good thing, it can be rebellion. In other instances, this can be used for good. This trait can help us to break out of the mold of mediocrity and the tendency to sameness. It can help us to break out of tradition and into new and wonderful things.

If we are not careful, the world, the devil, family, friends, peers and even religion will put us into a box. They will tell us that as Christians we either have act, or cannot act a certain way. They will tell us what to believe and what not to believe. If we are not careful, we will find that we get our theology and directions from man and not from God. The Bible is God’s book of direction for us and we are not bound to the schemes, plans or doctrines of man.

God is looking for people who will just be on His side. He is looking for line crossers, those willing to go against the mundane practices of man and to get in on the supernatural works of the Holy Spirit. Every person who has really had an impact on Christianity from the times of the Old Testament until now has had to be willing to be a line crosser. Those willing to go out on a limb and believe God will make a difference in this world. I dare you today, be a line crosser and make a difference.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I am on God’s side, I choose to cross that line and obey His word and His will for my life.
