You Can Know

1 John 5:12-13

He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you, who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life,

I am amazed at how people confuse the simple truth of the gospel. When I say people, I am not talking about the way out, crazies. You know those who say that there is no heaven or hell, but it is just life here on earth and you make it heaven or hell by the way you live. Nor am I talking about those who say that it doesn’t matter how you live or what you believe, that your destiny is predetermined by God at some time before you were born. I am talking about people who say that they believe the Bible, but are still unsure as to how to get to heaven. There are so many different opinions about how one gets to heaven. Some say it is by what you do, others, by what you don’t do, every one seems to have his own way figured out.

It really isn’t that difficult, the Bible makes it really clear to those who will just simply read it and believe it. What could be simpler than this? He who has the Son of God has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Jesus said it like this, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man can come to the Father except he come through me. (John 14:6) That makes it all the more clear.

How about this verse? Who so ever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

I know that you must be thinking, why are you writing this, we all believe and are saved? That is what I thought too, until one time I was on a lay witness trip. While discussing the confidence of one’s salvation in a small group, one of the pastors said. “Well, I don’t think that you can know for sure that you are saved.” I nearly fell out. He was a pastor. There are lots of people who need to read and heed. You can know for sure, these things are written for that very reason.
