John 10:10b
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I am interested in abundance. I get tired of always hearing about the lean times, the bad times that we are living in now. People seem to be always looking back and talking about the “good old days.” Well, I was talking to one man not too long ago about this very issue. He said that he was alive back in those days, and that the only thing good about them was that they were gone.
Time has a way of erasing the hard things of times gone by and all we remember are the good things. Therefore, the past seems like it was better than the present and in some cases it might have been better. But, that is not the way it is supposed to be. God wants your present times to be full and rewarding. He wants you to enjoy every day of your life. He even says in the Bible that He wants your joy to be full. (John 16:24) Is your joy tank full today? If not, you need to talk to the Lord about it. Ask Him what is wrong, why it is not full. It could be that circumstances and situations have caused it to spring a leak and some of it has run out. He is really good about patching up those leaks if we will just ask Him and let Him.
The world talks about the good life and how to find it. I have noticed that with all the hype and talk, there seems to be very few in the world who really seem to partaking of the good life. You see, the good life is not found in sex, alcohol, and drugs where they imply that it is. With all that they say is good, I wonder why there is not more real joy and happiness in their life style.
The reason is that the good life is found in Christ. He is the one who will give abundance to the soul that seeks Him. In reality, the good life can be summed up this way. God is good and God is life. That being the case, the good life is nothing more that the God life.
