It’s Up To You

James 4:8

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

It sometimes seems that God is so far away. I think that is why we so often refer to our God, who is up in heaven. You know, in theory that is correct, God is in heaven; but, He is also here on the earth. God is everywhere present at one time. It is possible for God to be close to you in proximity and yet be miles away in your ability to actually experience Him and feel His presence. It is kind of like when a husband and wife are sitting only feet apart in the same room and maybe even on the same sofa and the husband is daydreaming of the last fishing trip he took. He is there, in his mind, catching that last record bass. I n reality the two of you are together, but in experience, he is miles away. I know that you have had that experience with another person. You have probably had the same feeling in your relationship with the Lord.

It seems like an impossibility for the Lord to actually dwell inside of you by His Holy Spirit and you not be able to feel or sense His presence. I assure you that it is not only possible, but that it does happen very frequently. This separation can be caused by any number of reasons. Sometimes the break is caused by unconfessed sin in the person's life. At other times, it may be due to neglect of the Word of God or in preoccupation with the affairs of this life. How often do the concerns and everyday distractions of this life keep you from really being sensitive to the presence of God in your life? If the truth were known, it probably happens more than we like to admit.

It is never that God desires to be separated from you, He desires that sweet, conscious, presence at all time. That is why He says that if you will draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. He is always on the alert, waiting for you, ready to fellowship and draw near to you. It is up to you..

MY WORD CONFESSION: I draw near to you right now my Lord and you draw near to me so that our fellowship can be sweet.
