It’s A Process

1 Thessalonian 5:23

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Christian life is a continual daily process. Your spiritual growth will happen, but it takes time. There are two important things to remember in regards to this.

The first thing to remember is that it is God’s will for you to grow into His image and to grow into practical holiness. By practical holiness, I mean that you are daily living a more sanctified and holy lifestyle. You see, as far as God is concerned, you have already positionally been declared holy. In fact, the Bible tells us that we are right now the righteousness of God in Christ. He is at work at this time trying to get the outworking of the in working that has already taken place in your life. So, remember this that God is committed to doing that work in your life; He wants it even more than you do.

The second thing to note is that you play a vital part in the speed at which this process can happen. You can submit to God’s inward working or you can rebel against it. The more you allow the Spirit to work in your life, the faster this can happen. Remember, it is God’s will so you can commit to that will and see a great change in your attitudes and actions that will reflect the nature of God in your life.

I can assure you that if you are a true born again believer, the process is already happening in your life. Look at the order in which Paul said this process works. He said that he is praying that we be sanctified in our spirits, our souls and our bodies. Well, it is a done deal in our spirits. That happened at salvation. Our bodies will be taken care of in the resurrection. That just leaves the area of our souls to be worked on, our minds, wills, and emotions. He is at work right now working in those areas. It is a process, submit your will to God daily and let Him complete what He has begun in your life.

MY WORD CONFESSION: God’s work in me is preserving me blameless, in my spirit, my soul, and in my body.
