A Top Priority

Colossians 3:17

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks unto God and the Father by Him.

It is not hard to determine what a person’s priorities are. The things that one spends their time, money and energy on reveal what is really important to them. These are the things that we deem most important and valuable in our lives and these will be invested in what we feel is a top priority to us.

Have you ever sat down and examined your own priorities. Sometimes it can be a real eye opener when we take an honest look at what our priorities really are. Very often, the things that we say are really important to us are not as important as we think they are. If you really want to determine your real priorities, just note where you are spending your time, your money and your energy and you will find your true priorities.

One of the main reasons that many people are not fulfilled in this life is that their priorities are not set in the right place. The Bible tells us that to really have our lives in proper perspective, we must be, first of all, seeking to bring glory and honor to God. It says that whatever we do in all of our life, in word and in deed, we are to do for the Lord Jesus.

Loving and serving the Lord must come before making a living, before recreation, before relationships with others. These things are not bad, in and of themselves, in fact, they are very good. We must remember though, that they are not to be the first things in our lives.

Don’t you think that it would be wise to slow down and little and do a bit of re-evaluation? In this fast paced world, with all of its distractions and interruptions, it is easy to get away from our intended goals. It is so easy to be caught up in the busy-ness of this world and miss the real business of life. Don’t let your priorities slip. Whatever you do in word and deed, do all in the name of the Lord, it is top priority.

MY WORD CONFESSION: Today, whatever I do, in word or deed, I will do in the name of the Lord Jesus, it’s top priority for me.
