All Things

2 Peter 1:3

According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue;

This is a very powerful scripture, yet one that you probably have never heard a sermon on. It is tucked away here, as an introduction, in this little book of the Bible. I believe that most often it is just passed by in a hurry to get to the real stuff in this book. Well, there is too much here to just run through it.

I want you to notice what this verse is actually saying. It says first of all, that we have been given something by “His divine power”. Now we are not talking about self will or the power of the flesh here. We are saying that it is by the same power that God has. The same power that created the universe by speaking into existence the things that God wanted. It is the same power that holds all things in order and in place. It is the power with which God operates.

Now not only has He given unto us His divine power and ability, but His divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and to godliness. Did you catch that? He said that we have all things that pertain to life and godliness. I don’t know about you, but to me that just about covers it all. Every issue of life is covered here in this little verse. If it pertains to life or to godliness, it is given to you.

If you need strength, if you need deliverance, if you need wisdom, if you need health, if you need direction, if you need finances, and the list goes on and on as far as any need that you have goes, they are every one in the “all things” category. This is an all inclusive promise that says that you have all you will ever need that pertain to life and that you will have it in this life. You do not have to wait till you get to heaven. All that you need right now is available to you. It is time that we take this verse literally and start living in what God has provided for us, so that we can get on with living the life of victory.

MY WORD CONFESSION: In this life by God’s divine power, I have been given all that I need for life and for godliness.
