Truth Or Consequences

John 17:17

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Some of you are probably able to remember a popular game show of years ago by the same name as today’s title. I can remember bits and pieces of the show. The main idea was that you either told the truth or you suffered the consequences.

You know, we are all, of a sorts, in a big game show. The main difference being that the stakes are so much higher in the game of life. It is not too bad to miss the truth in a game show. If you do, you may end up not winning the prize or not getting the cash; but, if you miss the truth in life, the consequences are far more devastating.

The first and foremost truth that we all need to recognize is that all of mankind is born in sin and that Jesus is the only way to eternal life. He alone can pay the penalty for your sin and He has done so already, almost 2000 years ago on the cross. Now, you may miss this truth and if you do, you will miss eternal life and heaven. That is bad, but the consequences are far worse. The consequences of missing Jesus is to be eternally condemned in the lake of fire known as hell.

I was witnessing to someone one time and they brought up the argument that I might be wrong. They stated that if I was wrong, and that man was not a sinner and didn’t need to be saved then they would have wasted their life and missed out on all the things that they were doing. They would have missed all the parties, the wild living and all the “fun” things that they were doing.

I thought for a moment and said back to them. “That is true, but what if I am right, are you willing to take that chance and suffer the consequences of living and dying without a Savior?”

In every area of life, believe the Word of God, for it is truth, or else you will suffer the consequences.

MY WORD CONFESSION: In all things, Thy word is truth O God, I believe it and will honor it with my life.
