Romans 1:25
Who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Man, being made in the image of God, has the ability to make choices on his own. Each of us is a free moral agent. God did not make Adam and Eve to be puppets that had no choice but to obey Him. We don’t understand all that is involved in this, but we know that God has a plan and that plan includes man being able to act on his own volition.
It is God’s plan that man, by his own will, make the choice to submit to God and to His will. He will lead, guide, direct and even order events and circumstances to try to get us to conform to His will and plan; but He will not override a person’s will. This is His way of doing things, and we have to understand that His way is the best way.
There is a misconception that man can choose to remain neutral in the battle that is going on between God and Satan. In reality, there is no middle ground here. Jesus showed us this when He said that a person is either with Him or against Him. He said that we are either gathering or we are scattering. We must choose which side we are on, we can’t just sit back and do nothing, by not choosing to submit to God, we are automatically choosing to submit to the devil.
Let me show you what I mean. Man’s will is designed to be submitted. The idea that a person is going to do his own thing is not really a viable possibility. It has already been established that there is no middle ground; therefore, a person is either submitted to God’s will or to the devil’s. The only choice that man has is who he is going to submit to.
The stage is set; the battle lines have been drawn. The war is raging and the outcome is certain. God wins. The only thing that is left to be decided is who will you be submitted to. You have only two choices, you can choose to submit to God and His will, or you can choose to resist and by default, submit to the devil’s will. It’s an act of your will.
