A Special Gift

Ephesians 4:8

When He ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

It is common knowledge among believers that the greatest gift ever given is the gift of eternal life. This gift is available because God was willing to give, as a gift to the world, His only begotten Son. This is what the scripture is talking about when it says, “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift (1 Cor. 9:15). There is no debate over this issue, it is unquestionably accepted that this is the greatest of all the gifts, there never has nor will there ever be a better gift than this.

God has given another gift that many people have overlooked. In fact, some will argue this point with you, but to no avail. This is also a very important gift to the world because of the way it complements God’s gift of eternal life through His son Jesus. Are you ready to find out what this other gift is? You might be surprised to know that this gift that I am talking about here is you. Yes, you are a very special gift to the world.

Let me explain why I am saying this. If you do not have a purpose for being here, then there would be no real reason for Him to leave you on the earth once you were born again. This shows that being born again is not the end, but the beginning of our Christian experience. God does not save us so that He can get us off of earth and into heaven. Oh yea, we will do that one day, but there is still lots to be done before that time. He left you here as a special gift to the world.

God saves us and them places us in positions on the earth so that we can be a witness for Him. Can’t you see that if Jesus and the eternal life that He gives is the greatest of all gifts, then the one who tells another about this gift or who shows someone else how to receive that gift is also a gift. As we fulfill our calling by living the Christian life and being a testimony or by actually telling others about Jesus, then we are also being a special gift to the world. You are a special gift from God to the world around you.

MY WORD CONFESSION: God has given me as a gift to the world that I might be a blessing to others and a testimony of His grace.
