Strong In Faith

Romans 4:19

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither the deadness of Sarah’s womb.

Wow! What a powerful statement of faith. We can all learn volumes from what is said of Abraham in this verse. I believe that this verse holds the key to your victory in every area of your life. It doesn’t matter what area of need you have, this verse applies to that specific area.

Notice the key ingredients. First of all, he was not weak in faith. He knew that God was his source and that only God could provide the needed miracle. He had the word from God that he was going to be the father of a multitude of people.

The next thing to note is that he did not consider his own abilities, shortcomings, or resources. He was 100 years old, Sarah was 90. She was barren and neither was getting any younger. He ignored the impossibility of the flesh to do this work and concentrated on the ability of God. He had already tried to help God out once and had a son by Sarah’s handmaiden. That son, Ishmael, and his descendants were and are today a thorn in the flesh of the Jew and all of Christianity.

Once Abraham realized that it was not to be by his own strength and ability and started just trusting God, the impossibility became a reality. Sarah conceived and bore them their son of promise, Isaac. As you know, this was the beginning of the nation that God had promised. The nation by which all of the world was and is blessed. Through this nation, came our Savior, Jesus.

Let me encourage you today. Do not consider your own flesh, your own circumstances or the impossibility of your situation. Be strong in faith and consider Jesus. He will make the difference in your life.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I am not weak in faith; I do not consider my ability, but trust in God alone for my provisions.
