Exciting Times

Acts 2: 17

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my spirit upon all flesh…..

Truly, we are living in some of the most exciting times in the history of mankind. This verse in Acts is referring back to a prophecy in Joel 2:28 and is saying that this is the fulfillment of that prophecy. Now think about that for a moment. This was written almost 2000 years ago, when the Holy Spirit was given to all mankind at Pentecost. Now if this is true, then we are really living in the latter days of that dispensation. Notice, that nowhere does it say that this is going to end. It just says that God is pouring out His Spirit in these last days.

If you continue in that verse, you will see also that is speaks of a continuing supernatural manifestation of that outpouring. It says that your sons and your daughters shall prophecy (that should silence the critics of women speaking out on spiritual things) and that the young men shall have visions and the old men shall dream dreams.

Any way you look at it, there is a great manifestation of the Holy Spirit. I like to look at it this way. The younger men with their lives ahead of them will be filled with the visions of what God is going to do in their lives and in the world, whereas the older men will have the dreams and experience of the things that God has already done. In this way, when the young men see visions so great that their minds almost rebel with the impossibility of the task, the older men can step in and assure them that God can and will do it. They can then relate all the miracles that they have seen Him do in their own lives. Also, the older men will dream of things to come and the young men will get the vision as to how to get it done.
