A Three Sided Victory

Revelation 12:11

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death.

It is always good when going into a contest or a battle to know ahead of time that you are going to win. It really boosts your confidence during the fight to know that it is going to come out right, and that is you win.

Today’s verse tells us how to have a 3 way victory over our enemy. Now it is clear from the text of this verse just exactly who our enemy is and what he does. Notice that it is none other than the dragon, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan along with his angels (vs 9). This verse also tells some of what he does. See, it says that he deceives the whole world. Notice also (vs 10) that he accuses us before God.

Now, time for the triple whammy. This is how we are to overcome him ourselves and make his defeat a practical reality in our own lives daily.

First, the basis of our victory is the blood of the Lamb. When Jesus’ innocent blood was shed on the cross, the devil lost his death grip on mankind. For the wages of sin is death, but Jesus had no sin and the devil had no right to Him. Therefore, His blood covered our sin, and now the devil has no right to us either. We are under the blood of the Lamb and protected, if we call on Jesus as our Savior.

The second phase of our victory is the word of our testimony. There is an awesome power released when we speak. Faith filled words work miracles of healing, deliverance, provision, protection and salvation. Yet faithless words work just the opposite. You will have what you say.

The third blow to the enemy is that of giving our lives totally to God. Dying to ourselves and living for Him. He can do nothing with one who is really sold out, who acknowledges that he is not his own but God’s.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb, by the word of my testimony and by giving my life to God.
