a blessed person

Psalms 1:3

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

We all want to know how to be blessed. We want to be able to say that we have learned the key to a full and rich life. Even the lost are looking for this type of life. In fact, the one thing that unites all races, creeds, social and economic groups is the desire to live a happy, fulfilled and blessed life.

Well, there is a sure fire way that this can be more than just a wish or a dream, it can become a reality. The great thing about this is that it can be realized by any and all. It is not determined by race, nationality, social or political backgrounds. There is only one real prerequisite to experiencing the real blessings that this world has to offer and that is found in today’s verse and the verses surrounding.

Notice that verse one begins with the main theme, Blessing. It starts out by saying, blessed is the man. So there you have it. The key word here is blessed. Isn’t this the information that we are looking for? How to be blessed? The verses tell us what not to do and what to do to walk in the blessings of God.

In this verse we are told not to take ungodly counsel, not to walk with sinners and not to be scornful, and then we are told what we should do. We should delight ourselves in God’s Word and meditate on it and keep it in our minds day and night. In other words, we are to let the Bible be our guide and our source of direction in all things.

It is as we do this, that we will be fruitful. We are compared to a big, sturdy tree that is planted by the river, watered constantly. We will be fruitful, we will not wither and dry up and whatever we do will prosper. Now that sounds like a blessed life to me, the kind of life that I want, the kind that will make anyone a blessed person.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I will meditate on the Word of God and keep it before me constantly; therefore I will prosper and be blessed
