Romans 4:3

For what saith the Scriptures? Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

The life story of Abraham is a real example of faith, hope and trust. I would like to recommend the reading of the whole story of this man of faith’s life to you. It is so encouraging to me in my own life to see how he lived and trusted God in so many of life’s situations, good times and hard times alike. Just like with us today, sometimes it was easy to trust God and sometimes it was hard. Sometimes it was popular and sometimes it was not.

You cannot look at the life of Abraham, or any other great person of God, without seeing one dominant principle. This is trust. Trust is not always an easy thing to do. The very nature of trust means that you will not always know what is coming next. It has been said that there is no such thing as trust without unanswered questions. This makes sense doesn’t it? You wouldn’t need trust if you had all the answers and all the directions before you started out.

Abraham was a man who, in the eyes of the world, had made it big. He had a great family, many servants, much land and large herds. He was already past his youth and was settled comfortably into life. As he was getting ready to sit back and enjoy the fruit of his labors, God spoke to him and gave him the command to pack up his family and belongings and to proceed out of his land unto a land that He would show him. Now this could have been a hard thing to do, there were so many things left unanswered. But, Abraham trusted God and did as God had instructed him to do.

As a result of Abraham’s obedience, God made a covenant with him. He said that He would bless him and make his name great. He would bless the whole world through his seed. And you know what? God did exactly what He said He would do. God never changes, He is still the same today. It is always safe to believe God.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I believe God and I will obey His word without having to have all my questions answered first.
