John 1:4
In Him was life and the life was the light of men.
I am confused by the way that some people perceive God to be. It seems to me that there are so many who have a kind of love/hate relationship with Him. They know that only He can give eternal life and for that, they are to be eternally grateful, but on the other hand, they seem to hate Him because of what they perceive Him to be. Are you good and confused now?
I guess what I am trying to say is that we know that there is no other way to have our sin forgiven and go to heaven, so we have to trust God for that, but we don’t trust Him in day to day living. There is this undermining thought that God is wanting to do harm to us, that he is wanting to take from us, to hurt us for, whatever the reason may be. You hear people make statements like, “God will get you for that.” Anytime there is hardship or disaster, people say that God is angry.
All of this is totally against the teaching of the Bible. The Bible shows from Genesis to Revelation that God desires the best for man. He wants us to fellowship together and enjoy each other's presence. It was He who initiated this relationship, He is the one who breached the gap between man and Himself that our sin had caused.
The high calling on the life of every believer is to really get to know God and to enjoy His presence. I assure you, God is not as hard to get along with as most of us make Him out to be. We have to get over this devilish idea that God is still mad about that garden thing and is still getting even with us. None of us will ever enjoy God if we are concerned that He is angry with us most of the time. In Christ, we are totally pleasing to God. Don’t let the devil tell you otherwise.
Jesus said that He came to give us life more abundantly, He wants us to enjoy life. Today’s verse says that life is in Jesus. You cannot enjoy life if you don’t enjoy Jesus. Take the hint, start enjoying God today and don’t ever stop. He wants it that way.
