Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that He who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Sometimes it seems like we are never going to make it. You know the feeling, we are called to live a certain way in a world that is totally against us. We are trying to do the right things, trying to keep faith alive in our day to day affairs, trying to live above the trying circumstances that are always seeking to bring us down. On top of all of this, we read in the Bible that we are supposed to have the same mind set, the same image and the same lifestyle as Jesus. It just seems that we aren’t ever going to get it all right.
Well, there is good news for you. God has said in His Word that He will work in our lives and through our lives to make us all that He expects and demands that we be. What God starts, he will always finish, and it says that He has started a good work in us. Now you know that God never did anything half way yet and He is not going to start doing things that way now.
There may have been times, maybe even right now, when you have felt like you are going to be the first one that God gives up on. Well, I’ve got some extremely good news for you. If God was going to give up on any of us, He would have given up on me a long time ago. I suppose in any of our lives, we can find reasons that God would give up on us if He were in the giving up business.
The Bible says that He will not give up on us, in fact, to the contrary, it says that He will not only not give up on us, but that He will finish what He has started in each and every one of us. He has started in your life a good work. He has begun His plan in you to conform you to the image of Jesus. Now this is why we sometimes get a little bit discouraged. We see how far we have to go to get to that place and it is almost unbelievable that we will ever arrive, but we will, because He will complete what He has started. PTL.
