Hebrews 6:10
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have showed toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Love is a very powerful force. It will cause one to sacrifice the comfort and convenience of this life for another. Sometimes this powerful force will even cause one to die for another. It is hard to comprehend and grasp the full ability of love or to measure the extremes that it will go to for the one upon whom it is bestowed.The greatest picture of pure unhindered love is found in the verse that is so familiar to all of us, John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but should have everlasting life.
In this verse, we see several truths revealed. First, we see that God does love. The reason that God loves, is that God is love. He is the epitome of and perfection of love. It is so amazing and sad to me to see and hear people accuse and blame God for the evil that comes upon the people of this world. God is love and is motivated by that love, all He ever does toward us is motivated by His love for us. Secondly, we see that real love extracts a price. God so loved, that He gave. There is no such thing as love without the willingness to sacrifice for the recipient of that love. A lot of what we see or hear in this area is not really love at all, but lust. Lust says I want what you have at your cost, for my benefit. Do you see how opposite this is to what God has shown us is real love in the act of giving His son for our benefit?
As Children of God, we are to demonstrate the same nature and love that God did. We are to be willing to give and to live for those same ones that God loves. Not all people in this world are lovely, but it is our responsibility and charge to love as He loved and the only way that we can do this is to allow His love to shed abroad in our hearts, we cannot manufacture this kind of love, it is God’s love. He will notice and not forget that demonstration of love through your life to those that He loves. He will reward you according to your labor of love to His people.
