the good stuff

Luke 1: 53

He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich He hath sent empty away.

There is a teaching that has been perpetuated by those who don’t know anything about the basic nature of God. This teaching is that if you become a Christian, that you will have to give up doing all the fun things, surrender all your goods, and in essence become a dull and dreadful being. I am glad to be able to tell you that this teaching is as far from the truth as one can get. In fact, this is as opposite to what the Bible teaches about the Christian life as you can get.

If you will read the Bible and let it be the authority on the life that it tells us about, you will find that the Christian life is to be so full and so abundant that it bewilders the world and causes them to want it. Contrary to popular teaching, the Christian life is the only good life.

The world advertises its goods and says that if you will drink this beverage, wear these clothes, or drive this vehicle, that you will experience the “good life.” Strangely enough, I have found that the people who put there faith, trust and life in these things rarely ever have much of a good life even here on earth in this life time. They certainly don’t have the good life after this earthly life is over. This is the deception that the world offers to those who will listen. They may experience all of the best that this world offers, but in the end it is all for naught. The Bible poses this question to all who have this mind set. What doeth it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?

If anyone would really like to find the good things of life, they need not look any where else except to Jesus. The message of the Bible is called the Gospel and that term literally means good news. The good news is that God has reserved only good things for those who will put their trust in Him. This is where the good stuff is both for now and for all of eternity.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have put my trust in Jesus and God has filled my life with with all good things.
