key to understanding

Psalms 119: 104

Through thy precepts I get understanding; therefore, I hate every false way.

If you were going on a trip to a place that you had never been, you probably would need a map to get there. Just suppose that you stopped by a service station as you were leaving town and picked up a map for the coming journey and as you went along you began to have suspicions that the map was incorrect. Well, not knowing what to do, you decided to follow it anyway, after all, any direction is better than none at all. At one junction, you consulted the map and it said to turn right. So, you turned right and went full speed ahead. The map showed a nice long four lane and off you went. Not far up the road you top a hill and all of a sudden there is no road, only a deep canyon. You plummet off into the canyon, and miraculously you survive the accident.

While you are recovering in the local hospital, someone asks you, “Why were you on that road?” Your answer is that you had a map and it showed a good road all the way to your destination. “I wish you had ask me, I could have told you that map was incorrect.” says your brother. If you knew that the map you were using was wrong and continued anyway, you would be very foolish wouldn’t you?

This is the way so many people are living their lives, going full speed ahead using a “map” that they suspect might be wrong. If you have a question about life, consult the manual. The Bible is God’s manual for our lives. In it we find all truth. It will never lead you down a road that leads to destruction. Now we can see why the Psalmist wrote these words. If you have been misled and lied to about the truth in life and have been hurt or have had loved ones hurt, you can relate to this truth. I get truth from thy precepts, therefore, I hate every false way.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I love the precepts of the Lord and they deliver me from every false way.
