commit and forget

Steve McMichael - December 27, 2025

Psalms 37:5

Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass.

Real faith takes time to develop. The more critical the issue, the more faith is exercised and the stronger the faith becomes. As a Christian, we are told that to live a life pleasing to God, our lives must be characterized by faith. Faith is to be the dominant principle in our life if we want a life that exemplifies Christianity and glorifies the Lord. This is why it is so important to start out quickly and learn effectively to live by faith. The sooner we start, the quicker we can develop a mature faith.

What does it mean to live by faith? The faith life is so very diverse, there are many facets to this kind of lifestyle. This verse gives us one dimension of the faith life. We all want the best life that we can have. We understand that to attain that life, we must be walking in the will of God and the blessings of God. If this is the life that you want, then this is what you must do. You must commit your way unto the Lord, you must trust in Him to bring about that desired end which is the life of blessing and victory.

That sounds pretty simple. It should be easy to do. Well, sometimes it is not so easy. It seems that the everyday pressures of life, the uncertain circumstances and the constant harassment by the devil seem to chip away at the foundation of our faith and undermine our lives. Before you know it, you find yourself worrying, fretting and in general turmoil over situations and circumstances that you really have no control over anyway.

Real faith is trusting dependence on God. Once you have committed it to him, forget it. Simply remind yourself that it is in God’s hands now and He will take care of it. Worry and fear are signals that you have taken it back up again,. You must commit it and forget it, and He will bring it to pass. You have His Word on it.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I choose today to commit my ways unto the Lord and trust in Him bring to pass His will in my life.
