the unspeakable gift

2 Corinthians 9:15

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.

This is the time of the year when everyone is in the holiday spirit. People are giving and receiving gifts, families are getting together for celebration feasts and the kids are eagerly looking forward to waking to find out if they have been naughty or nice. What is all of this about? It is the season to celebrate, the time to praise God for His gift unspeakable. The time to let the world know what Christmas is about.

What is the gift that we are all so excited about? It is the gift of life, the gift of forgiveness that is ours through Jesus Christ, the son of God who was born in a little obscure village in a manger in Bethlehem. For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given. What seemed so insignificant and so uneventful was in actuality the greatest event in human history. It was God’s plan of redemption put into motion, the plan that was implemented before the foundation of the world. The Creator of all the world laid aside His deity for a time and became one of His creations in order that He could redeem them unto Himself for eternity.

This gift is the greatest that anyone could have imagined. For, you see, not only did God become a man so that He could pay the penalty for man’s sin and rebellion, but He also made it possible for man to be reborn. That is, to have a brand new nature with a brand new ability. He has translated us out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light. We now have been moved through our belief and faith in Jesus into the kingdom of God, the kingdom of victory. It is a present possession, we have been given all things pertaining to life and to godliness, now. Take time during this Christmas season to remember and be thankful for God’s unspeakable gift. Remember this one thing this Christmas, Jesus is the reason for the season.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I thank God for His unspeakable gift, the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.
