Galatians 3:9, 29
So, then, they that are of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
The Bible is filled with promises, promises of victory, promises of blessing, promises of peace, promises of prosperity, promises of health, you name it, and if it is good, then the Bible has a promise for it. Now some people will try to justify the fact that they are not experiencing these blessings by saying that these were written to the Jews, the chosen of God, or that these were Old Testament promises and are not available for us in the New Testament times.
There is only one problem with that type of logic, it is simply not true. First of all, the Bible says that the whole world will be blessed through Abraham. His covenant is not just for the Jew, it is for all the world to enjoy, as today’s verse shows us. Those who are born again, are blessed with the same blessings that Abraham was blessed with. Not only that, but if we do not have all his covenant blessings, how can we expect to be blessed with the greatest of all blessings that came through Abraham, which is the new birth? If the new birth is for us today, then the other covenant blessings are also ours. We have been adopted into God’s family with full privilege. The next problem with that, “not for us or not for today” logic is that we are told in Hebrew 8:6 But now hath He (Jesus) obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He is the mediator of a better covenant which was established on better promises.
Now that should make it crystal clear, we have a better covenant with better promises in Christ Jesus, the mediator of this new covenant. Let me establish this fact clearly today. You can take all the promises made to Abraham and elevate them to a higher level and claim them as yours. You have all the blessings of Abraham plus the added blessings that Jesus gives us. The promises are yours.
