These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were true
Some people think that they have the Christian life all figured out. They have their doctrine all neatly organized and systematically categorized. Their eschatology (study of end time events) is so set in stone that God may have to check with them to see what He can do and when He can do it in these end times. You know the ones I am talking about, you have seen them and heard them too.
Well, I’ve got news for them and for any others like them, who think that they have God in a box. God doesn’t fit in any of man’s boxes and is not bound by what we believe or don’t believe. He is God and He will do His will in His way when He gets ready to do it. He will not be checking in with any self proclaimed theologians to see if it is ok.I have found that things work better when everyone remains in their own role. When I just continue as a faithful follower of the Lord and let God be God everything seems to go pretty good.
There are certain things that God has not revealed to us yet and those who think that they have all the revelation already are in for a rude awakening. The Berean Christians were noted because they were open to the things of God. They were not so head strong as to think that they couldn’t learn anything new, and this pleased God. They were willing to receive the teachings with readiness of mind. They were not just accepting all that was taught, they were daily searching the scriptures to see if the teachings were true or not.
Do you have the readiness of mind to receive new insights and new revelation from God’s Word, or do you have everything all figured out already? Let me encourage you to remain a student of God and not and expert. Keep an open mind and learn of the new things of God. Study the Word to be sure it is true and then receive it gladly.
