Psalms 1:1
Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
There is an old saying that goes something like this. It states that advice is usually worth what it costs. In most cases, that would be nothing. There is an abundance of advice from many different sources around today. You can get advice from TV, the internet, newspapers and magazines, the barber or beauty shop, you name the place and you will probably find that advice is in full abundance there.
Let me make my point further. Have you ever been struggling with an important decision and had umpteen different people give you the same number of different things that you should do? I am sure that you probably have. I know that I sure have. Well, that can be a real problem. The only thing that I can think of that would be as bad or worse than not having any direction would be to have too much direction, all saying different things.
It is so important in making decisions today that affect us and our families, that we make quality decisions based on God’s Word and God’s will. Avoiding ungodly counsel is a necessity and yet often hard to do. It is not too difficult when the advice comes from one whom you know wouldn’t know God’s will from a spotted elephant. But, the problem comes when well-meaning Christians start giving you their opinions. Yes, ungodly counsel can come from Christians too. This is mistake that many make when making decisions. They believe that just because a Christian gave them the counsel that it must be right. Not always so, Christians can and do often give ungodly counsel. Any counsel you get that is not God’s perfect will is ungodly. Take care that you seek God’s direction and not man’s.
