open our eyes

2 Kings 6: 16

And he answered and said, "Fear not for they who are with us are more than they who are with them."

Sometimes it seems that we are facing enemies too great to be numbered, enemies that we can't even see. It is like the battle is coming from all directions at once. There just doesn't seem to be any let up. Have you been there and done that? Well I sure have.

One thing that is cer1ain in this life is the fact that you are going to have these battles. Your enemy is relentless in his assault against you. He hates God and he hates you, because you are made in the image of God and are the apple of God's eye. So, don't let this be of a concern to you, when the enemy comes against you, just know that he is coming against God. We should be concerned when we are not being attacked by the enemy.

In today's passage, we find Elisha and his servant surrounded by a terrible army that was out to kill them. The servant saw that great multitude and was frightened, knowing that these two were no match for that great army of trained soldiers with horses and chariots. In times of our own battles, we too must remember, in each and every assault, the same thing that Elisha told his servant. Fear not, for greater are they who are with us than they who are against us. Praise the Lord. His armies far outnumber and are much better equipped than the armies of our enemy.

I pray, as did Elisha in the next verse, "Lord open our eyes that we might see." As our eyes are opened, we will also see that the hills and mountains, the plains and the valleys around us are filled with the mighty chariots of fire and horses of the army of God.

Now you can see why we too can say, "Fear not, for those who are with us are greater than those who are against us."

MY WORD CONFESSION: Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world; therefore, I will not fear.
